Silently meditating, the Buddha sits under the Bodhi tree.
A solitary shark swims with the warm Pacific currents
Envious of the schooling nature of other fish, he dreams of
being a salmon
Simply for the cooling effects of moving water, while lamenting his failing grades
He bellies up to the sandbar in search of a dolphin-friendly tuna [salad]
A Brahma bull has a ringside seat to the rodeo,
Bemoaning his station in life, he rues the herd mentality of females
And can’t figure on cowboys either – ruminates on their abject
fascination with hamburger
While brooding over the fate of many of his cousins [steers]
Anaconda; purple-hued after a night overindulging
Laments his legless condition, decides to become a vegan
Forgoing all other sustenance, he now seeks nourishment only
From the yellow variety of hibiscus blossoms [nectar]
Silently meditating, the Buddha sits under the Bodhi tree
Envisioning a path to his enlightenment
A wise old brown trout, unburdened as such, suns itself in thin water
And ponders [lunch]
