It’s submission time again! Feathertale is currently looking for poems, short stories and comics for two upcoming issues of The Feathertale Review.

The deadline for submissions to the next two issues of The Feathertale Review is September 15, 2010.

Our next two issues are themed issues, so writers, poets and illustrators take note:

The Feathertale Review 7 is going to be our first-ever comics issue. That means we are looking for artists and writers to pitch to us ideas for comics. They could be half-page comic strips or eight-page illustrated stories or anything in between. Contact our art director, Lee H. Wilson, at lee@feathertale.com if you’ve got an idea and want to submit.

The Feathertale Review 8 is going to be heavily focused on first-person narratives. We’re looking for humorous memoirs and blatantly fictitious tales in the first person. Of course, we are still in need of numerous poems and pieces of innovative flash fiction to round out our pages, so if you’re not interested in penning a long-form first-person narrative, don’t fret. We’re still open to the regular mix of high- and low-brow humour of all shapes and sizes.

About the Review:
Thought to have been described by the late Queen Mother as the illegitimate love child of Mad Magazine and the Saturday Evening Post, the Feathertale Review is a collection of the best from our website in addition to original cartoons and works of poetry, and short fiction that are just too good to post online.

How to contribute:
Any work already posted on our website is automatically eligible for publication in the Review. If you haven’t been published on our website, you may still submit directly to the Review. We will be looking for several brand new funny stories, humorous poems, and quirky cartoons. If you’re not sure what to contribute, we recommend you enter one of our Contests. Winning submissions are published online and in the Review.

Submitting to the Review:
We prefer that all submissions to the Feathertale Review be sent as email attachments to submissions@feathertale.com. Please include the word "Review" in your subject line, otherwise your submission may be considered for our online publication.

Submissions may also be sent by post to:

Feathertale
PO Box 5023,
Ottawa, ON, Canada
K2C 3H3

Please allow up to 3 months for a reply to your submissions. If you wish to have your submission returned please include a self-addressed stamped envelope with either Canadian postage or international postage coupons. Short fiction submissions must be kept under 3500 words (something between 1500-3000 words is ideal) and have been previously unpublished. If you’re submitting poetry, please send no more than 4 poems.

If you are interested in illustrating for our next issue please send low-res samples (72dpi - JPEG, TIFF or GIF files) of your work to our art director, Lee Wilson, at lwilson@feathertale.com. High-res scans or photographs of your work will be required if you are chosen for publication in the Review.

Before submitting, be sure to note we only publish humorous work!
